Lefteri Tsacle
Lefteri is a native San Franciscan of Greek heritage. He began studying classical violin at the age of 8. Lefteri began to play Greek folk music with the Helenic Folk ensemble and then joined the Merakledes band in 1967 where he played violin and bouzouki until 1975. After a twenty year hiatus Lefteri re-entered the music scene in 1996 by joining the HelenNicks band. Since then Lefteri has played with several bay area bands, including the Kymata band. In 2007 Lefteri together with Ivan Kabaivanov founded the Helios Band.
Michael Mavroudis
Michael began his music career at age 6 by singing old Greek songs on the docks in Greece. His first instrument was the Piano and then, following his older brother Tasso, he learned to play Drums. Next came Guitar and then Bass Guitar. Michael also composes his own music. His passion is Greek Music and to Michael, no other music has the "soul" that Greek music has. For many years Michael Played with and was a founding member of Greek Compania. He joined the Helios band in 2010 where he sings, plays bass, tzouras and bouzouki.
Tasso Mavroudis
Tasso is a very accomplished musician. His specialty is lead vocals and Percussion. Tasso started playing drums at a very young age, receiving his 1st "real" drum kit while in the 6th grade and toured the county with the school band. Tasso also played for many years with the Greek Compania band and in addition to being one of the founding members of Greek Compania he also served as the band manager. Tasso joined the Helios band in 2010.
Michael Garibaldi
Michael started playing piano at age 9 and was versed in classical music. Of Greek and Italian decent, Michael is very active in the Greek community, dancing and directing Greek folk dances for the Annunciation Cathedral in San Francisco. Michael plays keyboard, accordian and sings. Formerly a member of Greek Compania, he joined the Helios band in 2010.
Ted Andricopoulos
Ted is a bay area native of Greek descent. He is an accomplished guitarist as well as a bouzouki player. Ted has been featured in Guitar Player magazine and has performed with numerous rock bands prior to joining the Helios band in 2009. You can learn more about Ted by visiting his MySpace page: Ted
George Kabaivanov
George Kabaivanov was born in Bulgaria and started to play the Gaida at an early age. George is well versed in Balkan folk having performed many years with numerous Balkan ensembles. In addition to playing the Gaida, George also serves as the sound engineer for the Helios band.
